The Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine acted as an organisational partner of Mining Day 2026. AGPU Executive Director Artem Petrenko moderated a panel discussion focused on the role of Ukraine’s subsoil resources in today’s geopolitical landscape.
During the discussion, Artem Petrenko noted that in today’s world, subsoil resources are not only about production, but also about a country’s ability to function, develop and strengthen its resilience.
“Ukraine is unique on the European continent in that it meets its domestic natural gas demand through domestic production. Maintaining and increasing production is key to ensuring the country’s energy security. Despite Russia’s ongoing attacks, our companies demonstrate this commitment in practice every single day,” the Association’s Executive Director emphasised.
Further development of the sector requires investment, advanced technologies and international expertise.
“We need to continue improving the regulatory framework, aligning it with international standards and, where necessary, adapting government approaches. The key objective is to create conditions in which Ukraine’s subsoil resources can contribute to the country’s long-term economic development,” Artem Petrenko said.
